Official Storage Instructions for Humira
Store Humira (adalimumab) in its original carton in a refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze. Protect from light.[1]
What If It's Left Out of the Fridge?
Humira can be kept at room temperature (up to 77°F or 25°C) for up to 21 days total, including travel or shipping time. Discard if it exceeds this or shows discoloration/particles.[1]
How to Travel with Humira
Keep it in the original carton during transit. Use a cooler with ice packs but avoid direct ice contact to prevent freezing. Airlines allow it as a medical item; notify TSA and carry prescription.[1][2]
Signs Humira Is No Longer Safe
Do not use if frozen, expired, cloudy, discolored, or contains particles. Vials/pens should be clear and colorless.[1]
Does Freezing Ruin It?
Yes—freezing makes it ineffective and unsafe. If accidentally frozen, let thaw in fridge without shaking, then inspect; discard if unchanged after 30 minutes.[1]
