Prednisolone expired?

Expired prednisolone should not be taken. Once a medication is past its expiration date, the manufacturer cannot guarantee its potency or safety.

What you can do:
- Check the bottle for the exact expiry date (month/year). If it's expired, don’t use it.
- If you need it for ongoing treatment, contact your pharmacist or prescriber to get a new supply.

Disposal tips (do not flush down the toilet):
- If your area has a take-back program, use that.
- If not, mix the pills or liquid with an unpalatable substance (like coffee grounds or cat litter) in a sealed container or bag, then throw it in the trash. Remove or blank out any personal information on the label.
- For liquids, do not pour down the drain unless your local guidelines say it’s safe.
