Recommended Injection Sites for Kesimpta
Kesimpta (ofatumumab) is injected subcutaneously using the Sensoready pen. Rotate sites to avoid irritation. Approved sites are the abdomen (at least 2 inches from the navel) and the front of the thigh. Do not inject into the navel area, bruises, tender skin, or areas with scars, moles, or stretch marks.[1]
Why Rotate Sites?
Rotating between the abdomen and thigh reduces skin reactions like redness or pain. Inject at a 90-degree angle after cleaning the site with an alcohol swab. Each weekly or monthly dose uses one pen per site.[1]
What If I Miss an Injection Site?
Avoid the upper arm or buttocks, as they are not approved. If skin issues occur at a site, wait for it to heal before reusing that area. Full instructions come with the pen and patient brochure.[1]
Common Side Effects at Injection Sites
Patients report injection-site reactions in up to 20% of cases, including redness, swelling, itching, or pain, usually mild and resolving in days. Upper respiratory infections are more common overall.[1][2]
