Standard Dosing Schedule for Cosentyx
Cosentyx (secukinumab) is given as a subcutaneous injection. Adults with plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis start with 300 mg (two 150 mg injections) at weeks 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. After that, it's 300 mg every 4 weeks. Some patients drop to 150 mg every 4 weeks if they respond well.[1][2]
How Often for Other Conditions
For non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis, the initial loading doses match psoriasis, followed by 150 mg every 4 weeks. Hidradenitis suppurativa uses 300 mg weekly for the first 4 weeks, then every 4 weeks. In kids (ages 6+ with plaque psoriasis), weight-based dosing is 75-300 mg at weeks 0-4, then every 4 weeks.[1][2]
Self-Injection vs. Doctor-Administered
Patients can self-inject after training using prefilled syringes, autoinjectors, or pens. Initial doses often happen in a clinic. Missed doses? Take as soon as possible, then resume the schedule—don't double up.[1]
What If You Need Adjustments
Doctors may tweak frequency based on response or side effects like infections. It's not daily or weekly long-term; the every-4-weeks maintenance is standard to balance efficacy and convenience.[2]
