How is Sivextro administered?

Sivextro (tedizolid phosphate) treats acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections in adults. It is given orally as a 200 mg tablet once daily, with or without food, for 6 days. No dose adjustment is needed for mild to moderate liver or kidney impairment.[1]

What about IV administration?

Sivextro can also be administered intravenously as a 200 mg solution infused over 1 hour once daily. Switch to oral after 1-2 days if improvement occurs. Total treatment remains 6 days.[1]

Dosage for specific patients

For patients with severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min) or end-stage renal disease, no adjustment is required. Avoid in severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh C). No black box warnings apply to administration route.[1]

Common administration tips from guidelines

Take oral dose at the same time daily. IV requires compatible diluents like 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% dextrose. Do not mix with other drugs. Complete full course to prevent resistance.[1][2]
