Standard Cosentyx Dosage for Adults
Cosentyx (secukinumab) is administered by subcutaneous injection. The recommended starting dose is 300 mg (two 150 mg injections) at Week 0, Week 4, and Week 8. Maintenance dosing is 300 mg every 4 weeks, typically using the Sensoready autoinjector or prefilled syringe.[1]
Dosage for Plaque Psoriasis
For moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults, use 300 mg every 4 weeks after initial doses. Reduce to 150 mg every 4 weeks if the response is adequate or for patients weighing less than 90 kg.[1]
Dosage for Psoriatic Arthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis
Adults receive the same loading regimen: 300 mg at Weeks 0, 4, and 8, followed by 300 mg every 4 weeks. No weight-based adjustments.[1]
Dosage for Non-Radiographic Axial Spondyloarthritis
Loading doses of 150 mg at Weeks 0, 4, and 8, then 150 mg every 4 weeks. Increase to 300 mg if needed.[1]
Pediatric Dosages
- Plaque Psoriasis (ages 6+): Weight-based—75 mg (<50 kg), 150 mg (50-74 kg), 300 mg (≥75 kg)—at Weeks 0, 4, 8, then every 4 weeks.
- Enthesitis-Related Arthritis (ages 2+): 75 mg (<50 kg) or 150 mg (≥50 kg) every 4 weeks, no loading doses.[1]
Dosage for Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Newer approval: 300 mg weekly from Weeks 0-4, then every 4 weeks.[1]
How to Administer and Missed Doses
Inject into thigh, abdomen (avoid 2 inches around navel), or upper arm (with assistance). Rotate sites. If a dose is missed, administer as soon as possible, then resume schedule. Do not double up.[1]
Adjustments for Kidney/Liver Issues or Elderly
No dose changes needed for mild to moderate kidney/liver impairment or age ≥65. Not studied in severe cases.[1]
