Proper Refrigeration for Omnitrope
Store Omnitrope (somatropin injection) in its original carton in a refrigerator at 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C). Do not freeze. Protect from light.[1]
Why Refrigeration Matters
Omnitrope requires cold storage to maintain stability and potency. Exposure to temperatures above 77°F (25°C) for more than 24 hours, or freezing, makes it ineffective—discard if this happens.[1]
How Long Can It Stay Out of the Fridge?
Unopened pens or vials last up to 24 hours at room temperature (up to 77°F/25°C). Once in use, the pen stays stable for 28 days total (mostly refrigerated, with limited room-temp time). Vials in use: up to 21 days refrigerated.[1]
Travel and Portability Tips
Use a cooler bag with ice packs for travel. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources like car dashboards. Some patients use fridge-stable travel cases designed for injectables.[1]
What If It Freezes or Gets Too Warm?
Thawing frozen product does not restore efficacy—discard it. Check expiration dates and discard after the in-use period, even if refrigerated properly.[1]
