Can you lie down right after taking Lipitor (atorvastatin) and aspirin?
In most cases, yes. Lipitor (atorvastatin) and aspirin don’t have a specific requirement that you must stay upright after taking them. Many people take them and then lie down without a problem.
That said, lying down right away can worsen symptoms like heartburn or acid reflux for some people, and aspirin can irritate the stomach in certain patients.
What if I get stomach irritation or reflux from aspirin?
If you notice burning in the chest/upper stomach, nausea, or reflux after aspirin, taking it with food can help. If symptoms happen when you lie down, staying upright for 15–30 minutes after your dose may reduce discomfort.
If you’re taking aspirin on an empty stomach and it bothers you, ask your clinician whether it should be taken with food or whether another approach is safer for you.
