Standard Dosing Schedule for Cosentyx
Cosentyx (secukinumab) is taken as a subcutaneous injection. The initial loading dose is 300 mg (two 150 mg injections) at weeks 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. After that, it shifts to 300 mg every 4 weeks.[1]
How It Differs for Plaque Psoriasis vs. Psoriatic Arthritis
For moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults, follow the 300 mg every 4 weeks maintenance. Adults weighing under 90 kg may use 150 mg every 4 weeks instead.[1]
Psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis use the same: 300 mg loading, then every 4 weeks.[1]
Pediatric plaque psoriasis (6+ years, 50+ kg) starts with 300 mg loading, then every 4 weeks.[1]
Schedules for Other Conditions Like Hidradenitis Suppurativa
Adults with moderate to severe hidradenitis suppurativa get 300 mg weekly for the first 4 weeks, then every 4 weeks.[1]
Non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis and enthesitis-related arthritis follow the standard every 4 weeks after loading.[1]
What If You Miss a Dose
Take it as soon as possible within 7 days of the missed date. If more than 7 days late, skip and resume the regular schedule. Do not double up.[1]
Injection Tips and Self-Administration
Use prefilled syringes, autoinjectors, or pens. Rotate sites (thigh, abdomen except 2 inches around navel, upper arm). Full dose is two 150 mg injections, one right after the other. Refrigerate but warm to room temperature for 15-30 minutes before use.[1]
