Is a generic Saxenda available today?
No. The Novo Nordisk brand Saxenda (semaglutide injection for weight loss) has no approved generic in the United States. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved a generic or biosimilar version of this product yet. [1]

Why can’t a generic Saxenda be produced yet?
Semaglutide is a biologic protein, which makes it more difficult to replicate than a small‑molecule drug.
