Why do people take ivermectin?

- It is not proven to treat viral infections (including COVID-19); major health authorities do not recommend it for such uses outside approved indications.
- Some people may have side effects (dizziness, nausea, rashes, fatigue, etc.), and certain infections or very high parasite loads can carry additional risks. In some endemic areas, people with certain parasites (like high Loa loa levels) can have serious reactions to treatment, so doctors screen appropriately.
