When does propranolol expire?

There isn’t a single expiration date for propranolol. The expiry is specific to each bottle/lot and is printed on the packaging (often labeled “EXP” or “EXP date”). That date is when the manufacturer guarantees the full potency and safety under proper storage.

What you can do:
- Look at the bottle or blister pack for the EXP date. If today’s date is after that, don’t take it.
- If the date is hard to read or missing, contact the pharmacy or the prescriber to confirm the expiration for that lot.
- Typical shelf life for solid propranolol tablets/c capsules is about 2–5 years from manufacture, assuming proper storage (usually at room temperature, away from moisture). But this is not guaranteed for your specific lot.
