Nayzilam Nasal Spray Basics
Nayzilam (midazolam) nasal spray comes in a single-dose device with 5 mg/0.1 mL of solution per unit. Each unit delivers one puff—a single spray actuation—for one nostril. It's designed as a prefilled, ready-to-use applicator that activates once when pressed against the nostril.[1][2]
How to Use It Step-by-Step
Hold the device upright, insert the tip into one nostril, and press the plunger firmly for one spray. Discard after use; do not attempt multiple puffs from the same unit. For adults or children needing a second dose, use a new unit in the other nostril after 10 minutes if seizures continue.[1][3]
Dosage by Weight and Age
- Children 6 months to <6 years (or <40 kg): One 2.5 mg unit (one puff).
- Children 6-12 years (>40 kg) or adults: One 5 mg unit (one puff), repeatable once.[1][4]
No unit contains multiple puffs; each is single-use only.
What If Seizures Persist?
A second single-puff unit can be given after 10 minutes, up to two doses total in 24 hours. Seek emergency help if needed. Overuse risks sedation or breathing issues.[1][2]
