Standard Dosing Schedule for Cosentyx Pen
Adults with plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, or ankylosing spondylitis start with a 300 mg dose (two 150 mg injections under the skin, one right after the other) at Week 0, Week 2, and Week 4. After that, use 300 mg every 4 weeks. For hidradenitis suppurativa, it's the same initial loading doses, then 300 mg every 4 weeks.[1]
Dosing for Other Conditions
Non-radiographic axial spondyloarthritis and enthesitis-related arthritis follow the same 300 mg every 4 weeks after loading. Pediatric patients (ages 6 and up, weighing at least 50 kg) match the adult schedule for plaque psoriasis. Kids 2-17 years with juvenile idiopathic arthritis get 150 mg every 4 weeks if under 50 kg, or 300 mg if 50 kg or more—no loading doses needed.[1]
How to Use the Cosentyx Pen
Each autoinjector delivers one 150 mg dose. For 300 mg, inject two pens into different body sites like the thigh or abdomen (avoid 2 inches around the belly button). Rotate sites. Let the pen warm to room temperature for 30 minutes before use, clean the skin with alcohol, and inject fully until it clicks. Dispose of used pens in a sharps container.[1]
What If I Miss a Dose?
Inject as soon as you remember, then resume your regular every-4-weeks schedule. If it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one—do not double up.[1]
Adjusting Doses or Switching
Your doctor may lower to 150 mg every 4 weeks if 300 mg causes side effects or isn't needed. Do not change dosing without medical advice, especially if you have infections, are pregnant, or take other drugs.[1]
