How is prolia administered?

Prolia (denosumab) is given as a subcutaneous injection (under the skin).

- Dose and schedule: 60 mg every 6 months.
- Where it’s given: usually in a clinic by a healthcare professional. Some patients may be taught to self-inject after training.
- Injection sites: outer upper arm, front of the thigh, or abdomen (rotate sites).
- Not given IV or by mouth.

Tips:
- Your calcium and vitamin D levels should be adequate before starting to reduce risk of low calcium.
- If a dose is missed, contact your clinician to reschedule as soon as possible and then continue every 6 months.
- Always follow your clinician’s instructions and the product labeling.
