Acetaminophen for stomach ache?

Acetaminophen (paracetamol) is sometimes used for a stomach ache, but it depends a lot on what’s causing the pain.

When acetaminophen may help

Better options depending on the cause (often safer first steps)

• For gas/indigestion: antacids or simethicone may help more than pain relievers.
• For heartburn: antacids or acid reducers (e.g., famotidine).
• For cramps from diarrhea: focus on fluids; avoid NSAIDs.
