How Bimzelx Is Administered
Bimzelx (bimekizumab-bkzx) is given as a subcutaneous injection, typically every 4 weeks after initial loading doses. Patients or caregivers inject it under the skin in the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm using a prefilled syringe or autoinjector.[1]
Starting Doses for Plaque Psoriasis
Adults start with 320 mg (two 160 mg injections) at weeks 0, 4, 8, 12, and 16. From week 20 onward, it's 320 mg every 8 weeks, or 160 mg every 4 weeks for those needing more control.[1]
Dosing for Hidradenitis Suppurativa
For moderate to severe cases in adults, the regimen is 320 mg at weeks 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and every 8 weeks thereafter.[1]
Who Can Inject It and Where
After training, adults can self-administer at home. Injection sites rotate to avoid irritation—avoid scars, bruises, or tender areas. Full dose goes into one site; do not split.[1]
Storage and Prep Before Injection
Keep refrigerated at 36-46°F (2-8°C) in original carton. Let warm to room temperature for 30 minutes before use; do not shake or heat. Use within 30 days if unrefrigerated.[1]
Common Injection Site Reactions
Redness, itching, pain, swelling, or bruising occur in up to 20% of patients, usually mild and short-lived.[1]
