Zembrace SymTouch is a prefilled autoinjector used to treat acute migraine attacks. It delivers 3 mg of sumatriptan subcutaneously. The injection is made into the fatty tissue just under the skin of the thigh or upper arm.

How does the autoinjector work

The SymTouch device is designed for single use. Once the needle shield is removed, the injector tip is pressed against the skin at a 90-degree angle. Pressing it further activates the spring-loaded mechanism that inserts the needle and delivers the dose automatically. The device beeps when the injection is complete.

What is the recommended dose

The standard dose is one 3 mg injection. If the migraine comes again or does not fully resolve, a second injection can be made two hours later. The daily maximum is four injections, or 12 mg total.

Can you reuse the device

The device is meant for one-time use. It does not contain enough medication or spring energy for multiple doses. It should be discarded safely after use.
