How to Inject Ozempic
Ozempic (semaglutide) comes as a prefilled, disposable injection pen. Inject it subcutaneously (under the skin) once weekly, on the same day each week, with or without food. Start with 0.25 mg for 4 weeks, then increase to 0.5 mg; your doctor may raise it to 1 mg or 2 mg based on response and tolerance.[1]
1. Check the pen's expiration date and liquid (clear and colorless; discard if cloudy or discolored).
2. Wash hands. Wipe injection site with alcohol swab.

5. Press and hold dose button until it shows 0 and beeps twice (holds for 6 seconds).
6. Remove needle, press cotton ball on site (don't rub). Dispose pen in sharps container after 4-8 doses depending on strength.
Prime the pen before first use or if dropped/not used for 3+ days by dialing 2 units and injecting into air until droplet appears.
Where and When to Inject
- Sites: Rotate between abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Avoid veins, scars, bruises.
- Timing: Any time of day, consistent weekly. If missed >5 days, skip and resume next scheduled dose; if <5 days, take as soon as possible.
- Pen storage: Refrigerate unused (36-46°F); in-use at room temp (<86°F) up to 56 days.
