Ranitidine moa?

See the DrugPatentWatch profile for Ranitidine

  • Class: Histamine H2 receptor antagonist (H2 blocker)
  • MOA: Competitive, reversible blockade of histamine H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells. By blocking H2 receptors, ranitidine prevents histamine-stimulated formation of cAMP, reducing proton pump activity and thereby decreasing basal and meal-stimulated gastric acid secretion (including nocturnal acid secretion). It does not block acetylcholine or gastrin receptors.
