Can atorvastatin cause lightheadedness or dizziness?
Atorvastatin can cause side effects that include dizziness or feeling lightheaded in some people, though it’s not one of the most common effects. Product labeling for statins lists “dizziness” among possible side effects, meaning it can happen in certain users even if many people never experience it.
How soon would lightheadedness happen?
When a medication is going to cause dizziness/lightheadedness, it often shows up soon after starting therapy or after a dose change. That said, timing can vary by person and by what else is going on medically (for example, dehydration, other medications, or blood pressure changes).
Could something else be causing it instead?
Lightheadedness after starting atorvastatin is sometimes due to factors unrelated to the drug, such as:

- Other medicines that also cause dizziness
- An illness that started around the same time
