Can Lipitor be taken with nasal sprays? Most nasal sprays interact with Lipitor minimally. Nasal sprays used for allergies or congestion, such as fluticasone (Flonase) and mometasone (Nasonex), contain corticosteroids that reach very low levels in the body after local use. These levels are too small to interfere with atorvastatin metabolism or risk muscle pain or liver enzyme changes. Why do nasal sprays interact differently with Lipitor? Nasal sprays stay mostly in the nose and sinuses. Systemic exposure remains low, meaning they does not raise atorvastatin levels in the blood. The main concern with atorvastatin comes from drugs that block CYP3A4, like itraconazole or erythromycin, which are far stronger than any nasal corticosteroid.
