Main Formulation Differences

Aristada (aripiprazole lauroxil) is a long-acting injectable antipsychotic for schizophrenia maintenance, given every 4 to 8 weeks. Aristada Initio is its one-time "initiator" version, used only as a single 675 mg dose on day 1 to rapidly establish therapeutic drug levels.[1]

How They're Used Together

Aristada Initio kickstarts treatment because standalone Aristada takes weeks to reach steady-state aripiprazole levels. Patients get Initio plus an oral aripiprazole dose on day 1, then start Aristada (441 mg, 882 mg, or 1320 mg) on day 8 or later—no oral meds needed after that.[1][2] Aristada alone requires 21 days of oral aripiprazole buildup first.
