How to Use Neffy Nasal Spray
Neffy is an epinephrine nasal spray for emergency treatment of Type 1 allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. Administer one spray into one nostril as soon as symptoms start, such as hives, swelling, wheezing, or low blood pressure. Hold the device with your thumb on the bottom and fingers on the nozzle edges. Tilt the patient's head back slightly, insert the nozzle tip snugly into the nostril, and press firmly until the canister clicks. Remove and observe.1
What If the First Dose Doesn't Work?
A second dose may be needed 5 minutes after the first if symptoms persist or worsen. Use the identical steps in the other nostril. Seek emergency medical help immediately after any dose—do not drive yourself.1
Step-by-Step Instructions with Precautions
- Remove the device from its case by flipping up the dust cover.
- Do not prime or test-spray before use; it's ready immediately.
- For children under 30 kg (66 lbs) or adults with nasal congestion/blockage, it may not deliver fully—consider auto-injectors like EpiPen instead.
- Avoid blocking the other nostril or inhaling/exhaling through the nose during spray.
- After use, replace the dust cover and note the time on the case label.1
Storage and Shelf Life
Store at 68-77°F (20-25°C), away from sunlight and freezing. Expires 4 months after first use if punctured. Discard if discolored, damaged, or past expiration.1
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Users often press too lightly (needs firm pressure for click) or use in wrong nostril sequence. Practice with a trainer device. Neffy works even if congested, but absorption is slower than injections.1
