Brands you might still see include Accutane, Claravis, Amnesteem, Sotret, but many patients use the generic isotretinoin from various makers (e.g., Viatris/Mylan, Teva, Sandoz, Sun Pharma, Lupin, Dr. Reddy’s, etc.).
- Regulation: Isotretinoin is highly teratogenic, so in the US it’s dispensed under the iPLEDGE program. Both male and female patients must be enrolled; females of reproductive potential must meet pregnancy-testing and contraception requirements, and there are monthly monitoring and dispensing rules.
