How to Apply Miebo Eye Drops Correctly
Miebo (perfluorohexyloctane ophthalmic solution 0.09%) treats dry eye disease by stabilizing the tear film. Follow these steps for proper use, typically one drop in each eye every 12 hours (about 2 hours apart). Use exactly as prescribed.[1]
1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, then dry them.
2. Check the vial—remove the tamper-evident cap if it's the first time. Do not touch the tip.
3. Shake the single-use vial gently.
4. Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to form a pocket.
5. Hold the vial directly above your eye (tip pointing down) without touching your eye, lashes, or fingers.
6. Squeeze to instill one drop into the pocket. Blink gently to spread it.
7. Close your eye for 1-2 minutes, then dab excess with a tissue—do not rub.
8. Discard the vial immediately, even if drops remain. It contains a preservative-free formula for one-time use.
