Standard Adult Dosing for Hypertension
Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, starts at 5 mg orally once daily for hypertension in adults. Doctors may increase to 10 mg once daily after 1-2 weeks if blood pressure isn't controlled. Maximum is 10 mg daily.1

For chronic stable angina or vasospastic angina, the initial dose is 5 mg orally once daily, increasing to 10 mg once daily if needed.1

For hypertension in children 6-17 years, start at 2.5-5 mg orally once daily; max 5 mg daily. Not recommended under 6 years due to limited data.1

In severe hepatic impairment, start at 2.5 mg once daily and monitor closely. No adjustment needed for mild-to-moderate liver issues or any kidney impairment.1
What if a Dose is Missed?
Take it as soon as remembered unless close to the next dose—then skip and resume schedule. Never double up.1
