Annovera is a reusable vaginal ring contraceptive made by TherapeuticsMD. It releases segesterone acetate and ethinyl estradiol to prevent pregnancy for a full year (13 cycles) with monthly use.[1]
Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Check the ring for damage—do not use if torn or sticky. 1. Choose a comfortable position: stand with one leg up, squat, or lie down. 2. Hold the ring between thumb and index finger, pinching opposite sides to fold it into an oval. 3. Insert the folded ring into the vagina using your other hand's index finger, pushing it as far back and up as comfortable (toward the small of your back). It does not need to be in exact spot; the vagina will adjust it. 4. Once inserted, use your finger to ensure it's not in the opening. You may feel it briefly but should not after settling. Insertion takes practice; it gets easier over time. Leave in for 21 days per cycle.[1][2]
You should not feel the ring once positioned. If you do, gently push it deeper with a clean finger. Check daily by touch during the first week of each cycle. If it slips out or you can't locate it, rinse with cool water and reinsert.[1]
After 21 days, hook the ring with your finger and pull gently. Place in the provided case for up to 2 months. Reuse the next cycle after 7 ring-free days.[1]
