UZEDY Storage Basics
Store UZEDY (risperidone) extended-release injectable suspension in its original carton at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F), with excursions permitted between 15°C and 30°C (59°F to 86°F). Avoid freezing, direct sunlight, or excessive heat.[1]
Traveling with UZEDY: Key Rules
Keep the prefilled syringe in its carton during travel to protect from light. Refrigeration isn't required—room temperature is fine for short trips. Do not use if the suspension separates (oil on top, white material on bottom); shake vigorously for 1-2 minutes until uniform before inspection.[1] For air travel, it counts as a medical liquid; carry in original packaging with prescription.
What If It Gets Too Hot or Cold?
Exceeding 30°C (86°F) risks degrading the suspension; return to proper storage and inspect before use. If frozen, discard—freezing alters the formulation. Heat above 40°C (104°F), like in a hot car, may cause separation; shake and check uniformity.[1]
How Long Can It Stay Out for Travel?
Manufacturer allows up to 7 days at room temperature (up to 30°C) without issues, covering most trips. For longer, use a cooler with ice packs (avoid direct ice contact to prevent freezing).[1]
Patient Tips for Safe Travel
- Pack extras in case of delays.
- Inform TSA or airlines; no refrigeration needed simplifies carry-on.
- Log temperature exposure if possible with a cheap thermometer strip.
