Zomacton Pen Doses by Strength
Zomacton (somatropin) comes in two prefilled pen strengths for subcutaneous injection, with fixed total volumes determining the number of doses based on prescribed dose size.[1]
10 mg/1.33 mL pen (7.5 mg/mL strength)
Holds 1.33 mL total, delivering up to 177 clicks. Each click equals 0.075 mg (0.01 mL).
- At 0.2 mg dose (about 3 clicks): Roughly 59 doses.
- At 0.3 mg dose (4 clicks): Roughly 44 doses.
Exact doses vary by patient weight and prescription; the pen displays remaining volume.[1][2]
5 mg/1.5 mL pen (3.33 mg/mL strength)
Holds 1.5 mL total, delivering up to 150 clicks. Each click equals 0.033 mg (0.01 mL).
- At 0.1 mg dose (3 clicks): 50 doses.
- At 0.2 mg dose (6 clicks): 25 doses.
Doses adjust per clinical need; always confirm with dose selector.[1][2]
How Dosing Works in the Pen
Turn the dose selector to your prescribed mg amount—the pen stops at the limit and shows if enough volume remains. One pen treats multiple weeks, depending on daily dose (typically 0.16–0.24 mg/kg/week for growth hormone deficiency).[2] Empty pens show zero on the display.
Storage and Handling After First Use
Store refrigerated (36–46°F) upright without cartridge shaking. Use within 28 days; discard if discolored or past expiry. Each pen is single-patient use.[1]
Compared to Vials or Other Brands
Pens deliver ~10–50 doses vs. multi-dose vials (e.g., 5 mg vial mixes to ~15–25 doses at 0.2 mg). Unlike Genotropin MiniQuick (single-dose), Zomacton pens are multi-dose for convenience. No generic somatropin pens match this format yet.[2]
