Is it safe to take Lyrica (pregabalin) after alcohol?
Lyrica (pregabalin) and alcohol both act on the brain and can add to each other’s effects. Taking Lyrica after drinking wine can increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, slowed reaction time, and trouble concentrating. Because of this, mixing them is generally not recommended.
What could happen if you drink wine and then take Lyrica?
Common issues people report with the combination include feeling unusually sleepy, unsteady, or lightheaded. In some cases it can impair coordination enough to increase fall or injury risk. If you take higher doses of Lyrica or drink more alcohol, the impairment risk is greater.
How long should you wait between wine and a dose of Lyrica?
There is no single universal “safe waiting time” because it depends on how much you drank, your body size and metabolism, and the dose of Lyrica.
